STAUNTON, Va. -- Fire crews from Staunton and Augusta County were called to a house fire at a vacant home at around 6:15 a.m. on Wednesday morning. The house is on the corner of Market St. and Sunnyside St.

No one was inside the house, and it was completely destroyed. Fire fighters believe the house had no insurance, and let it burn down. They said it wasn't worth risking fighters' lives for the vacant house.

The cause of the fire isn't known. Fire fighters are waiting until it stops smoking to figure that out, but aren't ruling out any possibilities. The house had been vacant for a few years. The owner, who lives out of the state, was notified.
