A former Harrisonburg police officer is guilty of animal cruelty for shooting a family's dog to death in Rockingham County.
Sgt. Russel Metcalf has 60 days to pay an $800 fine for the misdemeanor.
A reckless use of a firearm charge was dropped against him.
