VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (AP) -- Prosecutors say no charges will be filed against two officers involved in a fatal police shooting in Virginia Beach.
Virginia Beach Commonwealth's Attorney Colin Stolle says the officers' use of firearms was justified.
Media outlets report that Stolle released his findings in a letter sent Friday to city officials.
Stolle says 30-year-old Shane Whitworth was shot by Virginia Beach police Officer Steven Brown and Naval Criminal Investigative Service Agent Suzanne Marsteller on Oct. 30 at Whitworth's residence.
Brown and Marsteller, along with other officers, responded to a 911 call from Whitworth's wife. She told dispatchers that he was threatening to harm himself.
During a standoff, Whitworth went into the backyard. Stolle says Whitworth encountered Brown and Marsteller, and was shot after he pointed a gun at them.
