SHENANDOAH COUNTY, Va. -- A fire occurred north of New Market at a farm called Lonnie Eaton and Son on Tuesday night. Jason Eaton, the owner of the farm, said this isn't the first time a fire has happened on the farm. He said his family dealt with a fire about 15 years ago.
In Tuesday night's fire, firefighters were able to save a nearby building, but the barn and all of the equipment inside of it were destroyed.
During this hard time, Eaton is thankful for his neighbors' kind words and help.
"You know it was a shame something like this had happened, we're sorry if we ever need anything just give them a call,” said Eaton, “You know if we need any help with cleaning up or whatever. And in fact his morning the cows that were here we had to move out naturally and we had some of our neighbors come by. They helped us get the cows in and get them out."
During the fire, Eaton saved all of the dairy cows. He managed to run them off to a nearby field.
Investigators are still trying to find a cause of the fire.
