'First Night Harrisonburg' Adds New Event

Harrisonburg, Va. (WHSV) For the twenty-first year, Downtown Harrisonburg will be celebrating 'First Night,' which is a family friendly New Year's Eve celebration.

This year they are doing something a little different.

The event funded by the Rockingham County and the City of Harrisonburg kicks off on New Year's Eve.

The executive director said the flyers for the event started being handed out on Tuesday.

It features a line of entertainers like the 'Glick and Phillips' and a new event for kids.

They will be "expanding to the Planetarium at James Madison University for children, it's an event. Activities will be planned from six o'clock in the evening until eight o'clock for children at JMU," said Terry Burkhalter, who is the executive director of the event.
