Following Severe Weather & the Tornado Warning

Fire and rescue crews were called out across the Valley for damage reports, this following the severe weather Wednesday evening.

Many neighborhoods had sirens blaring.

Near Weyers Cave, fire trucks responded to multiple calls of lightning strikes.

Despite the severe thunderstorm and tornado warnings in parts of the Valley, these crews say the frequent lightning was the biggest problems striking several homes.

These crews say when severe weather strikes, they're ready to answer the calls.

Tonya Hamilton, a firefighter with the Weyers Cave volunteer fire department says, "It's always alarming when you hear of something like that in the area. It's not something we deal with regularly, so it's a little alarming, but we're always ready."

We checked with emergency dispatchers in Rockingham county as well.

They say despite the tornado warning, no damage reports came in.
