On Friday, neighbors told us that 216 West Peabody was an unsavory place; that wasn't uncommon to see people having sex and doing drugs outside in the yard.

On Saturday, we were told that just isn't true.

Joe Nedrow says he used to live there and is friends with the owner's son. Speaking on the owner's behalf, he says it's not a bad place at all.

"The people that live there are very caring, loving people," said Nedrow. "They don't throw parties. None of that goes on there."

Nedrow has been friends with murder suspect Dallas Chaplin for the past two years. He's not a hundred percent certain why Chaplin was found in the house, but he says knowing the owner, he isn't surprised.

"The way that I understood it was that one of his friends brought him there," said Nedrow. "The lady that owns the house, she's a very loving caring person and she's wanting to help anybody."

All week long we've tried to reach out to the suspect's family and friends. Only a few have been willing to talk with us. Most of them are still trying to make sense of it all.

"Some people are in disbelief that it can't be him, that it wouldn't be him," said Nedrow. "To be honest, I didn't think he would do something like that. I wasn't there, I don't know exactly what happened. But, the situation ended badly. "

A support group was set up for Dallas Chaplin Wednesday night, shortly after the warrant was issued for his arrest. A day later that arrest warrant was served to Chaplin as he hid in the basement of the house.

Nedrow said he feels like so many of Chaplin's friends and family do.

"Hurt, hurt. Sad. If he's guilty of it, I'm not, we're not, all his friends and family aren't going to see him for awhile. We're going to miss him."

WHSV asked Nedrow if he thought Dallas Chaplin was guilty of the crime he was accused of. He said that if the police went through the hassle to capture his friend, they probably had good information.
