WEYERS CAVE-- Starting today, people in the valley will now be able to fly all the way to Orlando, Fla. from Shenandoah Valley Airport. The first flight took off from SHD at around 10:20 a.m.
Frontier Airlines is offering non-stop service to Orlando three days a week. This morning 68 people flew into SHD, and about 100 went to Orlando. The plane can fit 138 passengers. "We received such an enthusiastic response to this service, and thanks to all of you for that support," said Bob Westgate from Frontier.
Airport management hopes the new partnership will increase tourism to the valley, and business at the airport. Many passengers were excited about the convenience of the airport. "We just heard about this, and were like, 'Oh it's a lot easier than driving with two kids.' It's a really great price and a great location for where to fly from," said Chris Lennon from Charlottesville.
