Gas Prices on the Rise As Summer is Around the Corner

HARRISONBURG,Va. (WHSV)-- When the traveling bug sets in for the summer months, that usually involves spending money on gas.

Currently, the national average for gas prices is $3.66.

Around the valley, the average price for regular gas is $3.33 at 15 local stations.

Many of Americans have had to cut back on other thing, such as groceries and meals out, just to afford to fill up your cars.

"Yeah, a lot of stuff you know you don't get. Being able to get as much groceries. You ain't as able to go out to eat as much. It cuts back on a lot of the stuff that you know you like to get out here to try and do. You like to travel once in a while, you can't even do that really," said Mike Bennett, a JMU landscaper.

Although gas prices are on the rise, there are some ways you can counteract them. One of those ways it to use a website called Gasbuddy.com. This website allows you to look up the price of gas stations in your area. You can also use it when you are traveling and may be unfamiliar with the price of gas stations. It will save you money just by planning your rest stops.
