A man accused of killing a pregnant woman in Harrisonburg has entered a guilty plea.
Randy Sanchez Jr. faced charges in the shooting death of Janet Bonilla in the parking lot outside her apartment in September 2010.
He pleaded guilty to first-degree murder Friday.
Sanchez had originally been charged with capital murder, but he will avoid the death penalty with his plea.
Commonwealth's Attorney Marsha Garst says the Bonilla family is very happy with the deal.
"When you say you're seeking the death penalty, there is no guarantee that you will get the death penalty," says Garst. "And a life sentence plus five years in the penitentiary is a guarantee to the Bonilla family that Randy Sanchez will never see the light of day."
Sanchez is scheduled to be sentenced April 22.
