Harrisonburg City Seeks Input on Public Transportation

HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) -- City leaders in Harrisonburg are going the extra mile to make your commute in the city a bit easier.

Right now, the City provides more than five bus routes around the City and now they want to see what suggestions the community has on improvements.

City organizers studied the routes currently in the city, looking at things like efficiency, schedules and accessibility.

As a result they decided to add an additional route to the schedule to help cut time on the bus in half.

Bus rider Rebecca Dickey said having this online survey gives them a voice in the community.

"It's all about safety and the buses are a big part of that and it's also about conserving fuel and I think it's trying it's best. They do have their twitter outreach and that was helpful during the snow days this year. but not everyone has twitter and it's important to go through traditional means as well," said Dickey.

City leaders are now asking people to submit suggestions online. A meeting is open for public input on July 10th, from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m. at the HDPT Administrative Building.
