HARRISONBURG --A busy intersection in Harrisonburg could soon give you more headaches when you're on the road. The road may soon look different.

The intersection of Reservoir and South Carlton can become backed up especially at peak hours. One driver said it would be nice to see a change.

"That stop sign is always backed up, both sides pretty much and you have to deal with it every single day," said Alejandro Alegre.

Alegre plays tennis on the nearby courts on South Carlton. He said getting there is a pain and the idea of a roundabout being installed would help.

"A roundabout would be great, a perfect one would be a stop light but a roundabout would really help traffic flow a lot," said Alegre

Harrisonburg City Council Member Richard Baugh said roundabouts could be safer for everyone.

"I think they can take a little bit of getting used to. But as my sense as people do get used to them, you realize that they actually tend to be more efficient ways of traffic flow," said Baugh.

John Timberlake plays tennis at the courts also. He said the intersection can be dangerous.

"I've seen my share of accidents here. There's no lights and it's not really any direction on who goes first when you are coming out, who gets the right away," said Timberlake.

A roundabout may take care of most of the trouble for drivers. Alegre said he has other ways of bypassing the stop sign.

"Some times we actually we drive into McDonalds and drive by so we can get out the other which flows a little bit better," said Alegre.

The date for possible construction is still unknown.
