A Harrisonburg man was arrested last night after leading police on a chase that ended in Rockingham County.
This happened Thursday night when an officer with the Harrisonburg Police Department observed a vehicle driving recklessly on South Main Street near Pleasant Hill Road. The officer attempted to stop Darren Life, 36, of Harrisonburg, following him into a McDonald's parking lot. Life then sped through and exited the parking lot, hitting another vehicle that was traveling on Mosby Road. Life was pursued into Dayton at which time the officer lost sight of the Life's vehicle and the pursuit was terminated.
Later in the evening, officers located his car parked at the Rockingham Motel on South Main Street. Life was located by a Rockingham County Sheriffs Deputy and led the deputy on a short foot chase.
The Harrisonburg Police K-9 unit was called in and arrested Life after he surrendered to the handler's orders. Police also located a firearm that was thrown down as he had ran away.
Life is facing charges of Unauthorized Use of Vehicle, Felony Hit and Run and Eluding Police. He was also charged with outstanding warrants through Rockingham County.
