HARRISONBURG -- Virginia Governor Bob McDonnell gave a strategic compensation grant to 13 school divisions and one of them is in the Valley.
Harrisonburg City Public Schools received more than $400,000 for it's dual-language program. The grant will help the district keep teachers and possibly hire more. The grant will also give teachers incentives to take more classes.
The dual language program is meeting the needs of our students and it's really popular, and we have a lot of people who want to be apart of it, but we don't have enough staff who are ready to teach it," said Foreign Language Coordinator Jeremy Aldrich.
Aldrich said the grant will provide more than $5,000 in incentives for achieving goals within the dual-language program.
