RICHMOND, Va. (AP) -- With his Republican rival yet to concede the race for attorney general, Democrat Mark Herring is forging ahead, naming his inaugural committee.
The announcement Tuesday comes one day after the State Board of Elections certified Herring the victor over Republican Mark Obenshain. Herring has a 165-vote edge over Obenshain, who is expected to seek a recount.
Herring's inaugural co-chairs include Democratic state Sen. Mamie E. Locke, businessman Dario Marquez and Allison Weinstein of Weinstein Properties. Herring has also named a transition committee, as has Obenshain.
Obenshain has 10 days after the certification of the statewide vote to announce whether he will seek a recount.
