PENDLETON COUNTY -- Delegate Isaac Sponaugle told WHSV a bill, which would have allowed a casino to be built in Franklin, died on Wednesday in the House Finance Committee.

If passed, the deal would have brought hundreds of jobs and thousands of homes to the county. It was going to be modeled after a casino in Battle Creek, Mich. with restaurants and entertainment.

The deal would have brought in an estimated $30 million in state and local taxes.
