Students Safe After Incident at Stuarts Draft Middle School

AUGUSTA CO All students and faculty are safe following an incident at Stuarts Draft Middle School. A quick-thinking teacher noticed a suspicious man inside a vehicle in the parking lot Friday morning as students were bring dropped off for school. The Augusta County Superintendent's Office says the teacher noticed a weapon inside the vehicle. The middle school and two nearby schools were placed on a "code yellow lock down" while law enforcement responded to the incident. All students were kept inside their homerooms while the school was being checked. Emerson says the man was handcuffed and taken into custody and the car was towed away.

Classes have resumed at the schools.

The Augusta County Sheriff's Office is saying "an incident" happened at Stuarts Draft Middle School this morning.

An office spokesperson says no one is in custody at this time and no schools were ever on lockdown this morning.
