James Madison University graduate Jacob Wukie is a silver medalist in the men's archery team round of the Olympics.

This is the first U.S. medal in the London Games.

The 26-year-old Ohio native, who ranked 12th in the first round, trained with the university's archery club where he first learned to shoot the type of bow that is used in the Olympics - a recurve bow.

Wukie's former coach at JMU, Bob Ryder, said during their first conversation, he asked Wukie what his goals were.

Wukie said he wanted to make the Olympic team.

Ryder said Wukie had a great attitude and strong willpower, which got him to the Olympics in 2008 as an alternate.

After that, Wukie went back to JMU to train for another year, moved back to the Olympic Training Center after graduation, and made it to where he is today.
