HARRISONBURG --- People are gearing up for the debates Wednesday night with watch parties. Both political parties and some local colleges will have places where people can watch the debates together.

The Harrisonburg republicans will have a watch party starting at 8 p.m. at their offices, located off of Neff Ave. Meanwhile, the democrats are holding two watch parties. One is for James Madison students at the Obama for Virginia Office on Court Square. Others can go to Dave's Downtown Taverna tonight.

Eastern Mennonite University will have people in their campus coffee shop, which the manager said is a good opportunity to start discussion for students there.

"I definitely think it's good to have a place where students can get together and talk because if they don't, they might be misinformed about the debate, maybe they don't watch TV a lot. So it's a good time, just for them to have a safe place to watch and maybe have a discussion afterwards," said Alyssa Weaver, the manager of Common Grounds Coffee House.

The coffee shop is having specials tonight: Mitt chocolate chip milkshakes for Romney, and Baracky Road for the president.
