Man Arrested After Chase

WAYNESBORO, Va. (WHSV) -- Police have arrested a man who they believe drove around a neighborhood holding a rifle out his car window.

Charles Hugh Tigner, 32, was arrested Tuesday after police said he hit a man on an ATV and lead police on a chase.

This happened at about 4 p.m. in near the intersection of Jackson Avenue and A Street, which is in a neighborhood known locally as "The Philippines.

"He claimed that he had not been drinking, he claimed he had not been using a gun, he claimed he had not been driving; however, we've had witnesses see him behind the wheel of a car carrying a gun, officers saw that he was intoxicated," said Sgt. Brian Edwards with the Waynesboro Police Department.

Tigner faces a maximum of six years in jail.
