Campbell Co., VA - A Campbell County woman is fighting for her life and Sheriff's deputies say her husband is the prime suspect in her vicious stabbing.

Investigators with the Campbell County Sheriff's office say Jerry Harper, 28, is charged with aggravated malicious wounding and two counts of violating a protective order.

Deputies says they responded to a call just after 9:30 a.m. Thursday in the 800 block of Red House Road and found a woman with multiple cuts and stab wounds.

A neighbor says the day before, the woman had told him how frightened she was when she woke up Monday night to find Harper in the house, violating the protective order she had placed on him days earlier.

Investigators say that on Wednesday morning, Harper returned once again, and stabbed the woman several times.

“Bless her heart, I was here I was down in the basement and she came to my house and I got blood on the door and the door step where she tried to get my attention. I never heard her,” neighbor Thomas Goad said.

The woman was air lifted from the scene. Officials say it's likely she will survive. The victim has three children who were in the house when everything happened. Harper may face additional charges, including attempted murder.
