Mary Baldwin College will bring 50 new jobs to the area. New faculty and staff will be needed as it plans to start its new graduate program in health sciences.
College administration say they received a 15 million dollar gift to help start the program.
As to where the new building will be, that's still in the works.
The college plans to either build a new facility or renovate an older one in Staunton, Waynesboro, or Augusta County.
"It's a very, very big effort and it will attract to this community, new faculty, staff, and a new pool of students at the graduate level that we've never served before," said Dr. Brenda Bryant, Senior Vice President at Mary Baldwin College.
Bryant says health sciences goes along with the long history of the college's mission.
The new program will enroll about 300 students as early as 2014.
