CLARKSBURG, W.Va. (AP) -- A Massachusetts woman accused of posing as a teenage boy to prey on a West Virginia girl has pleaded guilty to one federal charge.
Twenty-five-year-old Carissa Hads of Quincy faces up to 30 years in prison and a $250,000 fine when sentenced on a single count of traveling across state lines with the intention of having sex with a minor.
She's currently in federal custody.
Hads appeared Wednesday before U.S. Magistrate John Kaull in Clarksburg.
Investigators say she pretended to be a boy on MySpace and began an online relationship with a Lewis County girl in 2010.
They say she visited the teen in West Virginia at least three times and had a sexual encounter with her in February.
Hads allegedly disguised her appearance with a back brace.
