HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) -- With some schools closed in our area and in other states, plenty of people flocked to Massanutten Resort.

People lined up to get tickets Tuesday as the weather helped business. Managers at the resort said that so far, they have had 1,000 skiers and expect more.

Earlier Tuesday, tubing was so busy that the line of people stretched the entire hill. Not everyone was at the tubing hill, though, as others opted to ski and snowboard.

Managers said the past four days have been great for business as hundreds of people took advantage of the available discounts. If school is canceled, the resort offers a discount on both slope use and rentals.

People did not come from only the Valley; some traveled from other states when they saw the snowy forecast.

"I love tubing and ice skating. It was so much fun," said Ellie Bogue, who was visiting from Maryland.

"It's great. This is actually the first mountain I learned to snowboard at back in like '94, so good to come back and revisit. I haven't been back since then," said John Mitchell, who was visiting from North Carolina.

Resort managers said the best form of advertisement is any time it snows. They expect big crowds into the weekend.
