Activities around the Valley

HARRISONBURG,Va. (Shenandoah Valley Calendar)-- May 26–Harrisonburg: 2nd Annual Memorial Day Celebration at Rockingham Country Faigrounds from 4-8:30 pm. This is a celebration honoring faith, family, and freedom. All events are free. Music by the "Roys", Johnny Cash favorites by John Schmid and other musicans. The Dialed Action BMX stunt team will perform two shows and there will be over 100 classic cars cruising in. Also the event feature's a special tribute to our nation's heroes, Veterans, active duty personnel, and local first responders will be honored in a moving ceremony. One of the most popular attractions will be the Victory Weekend Show Car, which accompanies the team to NASCAR races. Lesha Campbell, with Way to Go Ministries, Inc., will be doing special programs for the children. Other activities will include bouncy inflatables, face painting, and much more. Local organizations and commercial vendors will supply all types of delicious foods for purchase. 540-421-9570.

May 29–New Market.: Home Cookin’ program at New Market Battlefield State Historical Park from 10 am-4 pm. Experience home cooking 19th century style. Admission fee. 540-740-3101.

May 31–Waynesboro.: XtremeFest at Constitution Park is where you can climb on the mobile climbing wall, kayak the South River, jump on the air bungee trampoline, test your skills on the mechanical bull, marvel at the high flying BMX stunt show. Register for huge giveaways and enjoy great food and fun for the whole family from 10 am-5 pm. The event is free of charge and there will be plenty of opportunities to experience some of the many fun activities you can do outdoors. 540-942-6735.

May 31–Harrisonburg.: Court and Market Days Festival at the Turner Pavillion and Park from 9 am-3 pm. Re-creation of the mid 1860s, through music, dance, children’s activities, artisans, wagon rides, farmers market, and more. 540-879-2616. is happy to provide a forum for commenting and discussion.
