Many of us are asking why a tragedy like this would even happen?
Some say it all comes down to the lack of support for mental health issues.
Patricia Barkley is a mental health professional in the Department of Corrections in Florida.
She says there are a lot of factors that contributed to the mass shooting. One of them being mental health issues.
Barkley says she sees lots of people in prison who should have gotten support for their psychological issues before they committed those crimes.
Now after this shooting, she hopes more people will pay attention to those needs.
"There should be no stigma to mental health, just like there's not to physical health, there should be no stigma in mental health and we should get the same type of funding and that as a community, it should all be recognized as the same," said Barkley.
Barkley says one of the biggest problems is the lack of funding for mental health. She says fewer people would commit these horrific crimes if they had support and medication.
