MT. JACKSON, Va. (WHSV) The Town of Mt. Jackson is expanding. This comes after, more than 60 acres were recently annexed into the town.
The property located on the intersection of Route 11 and the Shenandoah River is currently farm land.
It will now be transferred from the county to Mt. Jackson.
A city council member says if anything is to be done, commercially, with the land it will need to be re-zoned.
"At the present time, the only thing that's changes is its no longer in the county. As far as what legal entity it's in," said Ken Hackenbracht, who is a Mt. Jackson town council member.
The owner of the property will continue paying real estate taxes on the land.
