Fitz, 27, is wanted on multiple charges

HARRISONBURG, Va.-- Harrisonburg Police arrested a 28-year-old for a murder that happened on Christmas Eve. Some neighbors who live near the 200 block of Commerce Drive feel relieved after the arrest.

Delano Fitz is currently held at the Rockingham County Jail without bond. He faces charges related to the murder of Traman Turner on Dec. 24 on Commerce Drive. Some of the charges include first-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony and possession of a firearm as a convicted felon.

For neighbor John Steigerwald, this arrest makes him walk with ease near his home.

"I feel a whole lot safer now that I know he is not out there. He could possibly break into a house or something like that looking for a place to stay," said Steigerwald.

He said he will now feel more comfortable letting his children outside to play.

Harrisonburg Police said Fitz surrendered on the advice of family members.
