HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) -- People who live along Ramblewood Road say that potholes and some curvy sections make it hard to drive.

Karen Smith has lived on the road for 30 years and said more should be done to fix the rough section of the road. "It really jarred our car the one night I wasn't realizing it was there and the fact is that it's just not one pothole but there's just the whole roughness of the road," said Smith.

William Kee, who owns Kee's Body Shop, agrees, "this is the worst road in town."

Thomas Hartman, the assistant director of public works for the City of Harrisonburg, said crews are waiting until after the cold temperatures. "To just get it back to the condition it was before the winter, when we started seeing potholes and fix some soft areas," said Hartman.

"Not sure that it'd just be patches on top of other patches. Might be like a patchwork quilt," said Kee.

"Filling up potholes really won't amount to much," said Smith.

Plans to redo the road, that has been resurfaced before, are not in the city's capital improvement plan. "We don't have any plans for improvements or big projects," said Hartman.

Smith and other neighbors, who declined to speak on camera take curves carefully.

"A number of accidents on the road throughout the years," said Smith.

The road bears visible marks, where where cars have run off the road.

Hartman said crews will fix parts of the road.

"We pay the same city taxes as everybody else, if they didn't want us in the city 30 years ago, they could have left us in the county," said Smith.

City crews will be out on roads in the next week or two and plan to patch up any areas in the summer. is happy to provide a forum for commenting and discussion. Please respect and abide by the house rules:
