BRIDGEWATER -- Leaders of the Bridgewater Historical Society leased an important town landmark. The old Bridgewater Town Hall will be transformed into a visitor and information center. Historical society leaders have plans to use the space for a museum and gift shop.
Work is already in progress on the old town hall. New electric cable has been placed in the building along with a heating and air conditioning unit.
It still needs $5,000 to open and $30,000 to completely restore the building. Many people from Bridgewater are excited for the changes.
“This is our heritage. This is our root. This is where we came from. So there's a close affection and affiliation for not only the town but its history,” said Ben Beydler, the Bridgewater Historical Society president.
Historical society leaders would like to open the building before July. The grand opening would take place during Bridgewater's annual lawn party.
