HARRISONBURG -- A new restaurant will open Friday on Main Street in Harrisonburg. Because of previous failed restaurants at 95 South Main Street, some say it is cursed.
The restaurant is called "The Downtown." The owners got their start with a food truck in Charlottesville. They said they are aware of the location's history, but feel their product will make the difference.
"I mean the reputation of this place is not our reputation, I mean our reputation everyone knows who works for us we take care of our people and at the same time, we give the product, it's a good product. So that's part of the reason why we're not too worried about the cursed corner," said Samer Gaber, The Downtown's general manager.
The restaurant has a soft opening planned for October 18. The owners intend to serve Mediterranean food and offer delivery until 4 a.m.
