STAUNTON, Va –-- Emma Reger is a 16-year-old from Broadway and she is a part of what is called the "PEG" program at Mary Baldwin College.
PEG is a program for exceptional students to head to college early if they are accepted. Some students in the program are as young as 13-years-old.
Reger said her classmates are proud of her for getting accepted into college so young and her parents will miss her.
“They thought it was a good decision,” said Emma. “This is a place I need to be. But it was harder for them because they didn't have that extra year of preparing to go to college.”
Reger plans to study theater.
The first day of school at Mary Baldwin is Sept 3.
