School officials and parents came together to prevent bullying on Thursday night.

Harrisonburg Public Schools put together a night of food and fun. This night also had a serious focus with seminars to prevent bullying.

The school district gave out take home booklets and handouts on the topic. Parents came out ready to focus on prevention.

"Well, my kids are too young for Facebook at this time. They are just kindergarten and first grade, but I know it can be a major problem, so I'd like to get equipped the best I can to be able to draw some boundaries and help thejm draw some boundaries so they can stay safe and have healthy relationships," said parent Meg Whiteman.

I would like to see this in Augusta Co Clymore, Stewart Middle and Fort Defiance it seems no one wants to take this as being a problem unless its there child. Punishment is sitting in the office with the staff listening to music and seeing all the visitors that come inand it generally is the same kids every week Wow real punishment No wonder the kids are not worried about getting in trouble

The first person has a very good point. In some cases it is the teacher or the administrator that is the bully and then the options become much more difficult. It also sets a pattern for the kids to emulate. Don't think that it doesn't happen - it is happening.

Bulling is made worst at Wilson High School because One of the Office ladies and Some Teachers ( not all, there are some really great teachers there) are bullies with the kids. There for the kids are only as good as their leaders... Right? Its so bad (Fact) One of the Office Ladies goes into the kids classes and makes rude comments not to them but about them in front of them to other kids. She stands out in the hall way and talks about kids as they walk by. If they go into the office for something she will embarrass them very Loudly. So in some case's its just not kids bulling kids. Principles, Teachers, And Office Workers can be bullies to.
