Peace Corps Volunteer Shares Inspirational Story

STAUNTON -- One local woman has been making a difference overseas and on Wednesday, she shared her story to motivate others to do the same.

Molly Douglas, a Peace Corps recruiter, visited Mary Baldwin College to talk about her experience.

Douglas served in Albania during her time with the Peace Corps. She was there from 2010 to 2012, teaching students English and about American culture.

Douglas is hoping to show students how they can make a difference in the lives of women and children in other countries.

“Maybe open their eyes to new opportunities, to different forms of empowerment, avenues for improving their personal lives, and present that as a very real possibility and hopefully encourage some interest in contributing in that way,” said Douglas.

Douglas said the Peace Corps not only offers a way for volunteers to impact the lives of others, but that the experiences that she went through affected her life as well. is happy to provide a forum for commenting and discussion. Please respect and abide by the house rules:
