Harrisonburg, Va. (WHSV) -- After nearly four hours of searching, the Harrisonburg Police Department said it found an 8-year-old girl who lives on Norwood Street, after she ran away on Thursday evening.

Police say this is not the first time the young girl has ran away.

They got a call from the family sometime after 5 p.m. on Thursday.

Harrisonburg Police Department and the Harrisonburg Fire Department were working the area to find the young girl.

They were worried that with the temperatures falling that she would be out in the cold, for an extended period of time.

The search was centralized to the area near her home.

"Looking in all areas up and down the east side here, from Spotswood Elementary School to Norwood Street," said Lieutenant Roger Knott with Harrisonburg Police Department.

No charges have been filed.
