Police Have Taken Suspected Shooter into Custody

UPDATE 9 p.m.

STAUNTON, Va. -- Dallas Chaplin is facing two felony charges of first-degree murder and use of a firearm while in commission of a felony.

UPDATE 6:13 p.m.

Dallas Chaplin, a suspect in a Dec. 23rd shooting death, has been taken into custody in Staunton.

UPDATE 5:06 p.m.

Staunton Police and a SWAT team are on scene at the home where Dallas Chaplin is believed to be hiding on the 200 block of Peabody Street.

A WHSV reporter is on scene at a barricaded home, where police believe Dallas Chaplin is hiding. More details to come.

The Harrisonburg Police Department has reason to believe that Chaplin may have fled to the Roanoke area.

The Harrisonburg Police Department has obtained arrest warrants for the suspect in the shooting death of Benjamin Graessle. The suspect has been identified as Dallas Chaplin, 19, of Staunton.

The outstanding warrants are for first degree murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony.

In addition, the Harrisonburg Police Department has arrested Givi Dudunia, 19, of Staunton. Dudunia was charged with an assault that took place on December 23, 2012 at 895 Port Road before the shooting death of Graessle.

The Harrisonburg Police Department is actively seeking help from the community in locating Chaplin.
