WAYNESBORO, Va. (WHSV) The Waynesboro School Board is considering updating the policy governing gang activity in its schools.
The school board established the policy after recognizing that gang activity is a problem in the community. Based on the student code of conduct, students who participate in gang activity are subject to suspension, long term suspension or expulsion.
The updates are necessary to meet state standards.
"And to use the technology and specifically the school computer system," said Vermell Grant who is the Assistant Superintendent with Waynesboro Public Schools.
If approved, the board will adopt the policy updates in early December.
