HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV)-- Roberta Webb Child Care Center and Preschool is hoping to raise more than $10,000 to start work on a new infant care program.
To do that, the center has started a one of a kind fundraiser.
They hope to break the Guinness Book of World Records for the most people who can simultaneously do the hokey pokey while hula hooping.
In order to beat the record, they need at least 425 participants to register for the event. Angela Lawson, Director of Roberta Webb, said she hopes to have twice that number.
The fundraiser will take place at James Madison University's field hockey complex off of Reservoir Street.
Registration starts Saturday at 11 a.m. There will be lots of free food and activities going on all afternoon. The actual attempt to break the world record takes place at 3 p.m.
Lawson said she strongly encourages everyone from the community to come out to help make this goal possible. She said this center was started by the community and it is community fundraisers like these that keep them going.
Roberta Webb Child Care Center and Preschool is a non-profit institute that makes it more affordable for local children to attend preschool.
