STAUNTON, Va. -- The Sears Hill Bridge, which was closed in 2010 due to safety concerns, made progress toward reopening.
The stairs for the pedestrian bridge were put in place at this landmark on Tuesday.
Friends of Sears Hill Bridge fundraised for several years to reopen the 106-year-old bridge.
Many of the parts are refurbished from the original structure. That means the bridge will look like it did back in 1906.
The bridge will connect the Sears Hill neighborhood and downtown Staunton.
