AUGUSTA COUNTY, Va. -- The Augusta County Sheriff's Office announced Thursday it solved all of its homicide cases in 2012.
The three cases include a murder at the Skyline Hotel in May and a Fishersville murder-suicide in September. Also, Waynesboro police solved a previously 10 year-old cold case in 2012.
"It really started with one intrepid detective's pursuit of identifying this unknown woman and just really caring," said Sgt. Brian Edwards.
Despite this great accomplishment, Waynesboro police reported an increase of gun violence throughout the city, but they hope for another successful year.
