HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) -- Even with clear, sunny skies, secondary roads are still a concern Friday afternoon.
The cold temperatures are creating some opportunities for ice.
All the major interstates and primary roads, especially in Rockingham and Augusta County, have been treated.
Leaders with the Virginia Department of Transportation said they still have some work to do Friday, especially on some of the roads further north in Page, Frederick and Shenandoah counties, where they are still seeing minor to moderate conditions.
Dale Metzler lives on a back street and was nervous about leaving home today.
"I was nervous because I have fallen on the driveway before when it was icy. So, I am always pretty cautious now and I put salt down first so I don't fall," said Metzler.
He also said even after he salted his steep driveway his car was still sliding as he left his home.
A reminder for everyone from VDOT, drive cautiously and do your best to stay on the main roads.
