Changes are coming for students going to Augusta County Schools. The school board unanimously voted to move 100 Cassel Elementary School students to Wilson Elementary, something many parents didn't want.

Calvin Jordan's son goes to Cassell Elementary.

"PK Cassel has really become part of our extended family. We spend a lot of time there and it would absolutely break his heart if he couldn't go there," said Jordan.

Jordan and several other parents, including Mandy Shepherd want the School Board to remember the students.

"Bricks and mortar don't make a school. Environment, community, leadership makes a school," said Shepherd.

The School Board is changing the boundary lines because Ladd Elementary is closing. Those students would move to Cassell.

Depending on the plan chosen, Cassell could be over capacity by 100 students. The other plan would move Cassell students to Wilson Elementary.

It's a move some parents don't want, but some do.

"About 30 or better were looking forward to, if we do decide to go with option B, looking forward to something new and different," said Tim Quillen, Augusta County School Board Member.

More than 90 minutes after the parents spoke, came the unanimous vote for option B. That would send some Cassell students to Wilson.

"Pretty disappointed. My son's going to be crushed," said Jordan.

Parents of students who will be in the fifth grade next year, have the option to keep their kids at Cassell next year, but they have to provide their own transportation.

Letters with the decision will go out tomorrow. is happy to provide a forum for commenting and discussion. Please respect and abide by the house rules:
