Staunton City Council Candidates To Take Part in Forum

STAUNTON, Va. (WHSV) -- Staunton City Council candidates are getting together to share their positions on major topics in the area on Monday.

The eight candidates will take part in a forum hosted by Transition Staunton and the Spencer Center for Civic and Global Engagement at Mary Baldwin College.

The forum, called "Young and Green: City Council Candidates Forum on Youth Issues and Local Sustainability" is free and open to the public.

Ahead of Monday's forum, local voters in Staunton shared what issues they want candidates to focus on. Some say more bike paths, while others talked about the local food economy.

"Healthy sustainable, local food. And what I think that could help that is if there's more of an effort to connect the local producers to the consumers," said Trevor Piersol, who plans to vote.

The forum is at 7 p.m. on Monday, March 31st, on the Mary Baldwin College campus.
