HARRISONBURG, Va (WHSV)-- Strite's Donuts is moving into a vacant building on Port Republic Road. The building was previously known as Dave's Taverna's Satellite House.
Carl Strite, the owner of Strite's Donuts, said he loved the location because it is so close to the campus of James Madison University.
"They come looking for Dave's Taverna because it has been here in the community for so long," said Strite.
This expansion will now allow his business to wholesale donuts to other businesses up and down the Shenandoah Valley. That is good news for Strite's fans like Rodney Wood.
"I think it will be really great and give a wider range for people to get the donuts that do not have the time to actually come out here to get them," said Wood.
Strite said he was excited that he could connect with the owner of Dave's Taverna about occupying the building, as Strite's Donuts was expanding.
"Strite's Donuts has sort of an image that has gone before us so I really appreciate we could be there for that and continue to follow the Strite's Donuts image," said Strite.
Strite said they will still have their famous motor vehicles around town in their typical locations. He also said he hopes to continue expanding in the future.
Although the wholesale has already started, the new building will not open to the public until after November 18.
