HARRISONBURG -- Students at James Madison University tried to set a new U.S. record Friday. They flooded the school's quad to dance what's called the “Harlem Shake.” Students hope the video goes viral.
The Harlem Shake first started in New York and since then, it's been featured in music videos. Now, the dance craze has made it to Harrisonburg.
Michael Diffley, a student, said it's all about a good time.
“We all just love the environment,” said Diffley, “Look at the students. We're all together. It's a fun time and you can't beat it. Everyone's coming out here on a Friday, having a fun day. You can't beat that.”
Hundreds of students showed up in costumes for the dance party led by a student organization. The entire dance took about two minutes.
