WAYNESBORO-- Neighbors are reacting to two recent crimes in the 100 block of Henry Ave. On Thursday, a house was shot-at at least five times, knocking the glass out of pick-up truck in the front yard. On Wednesday, a house was spray-painted with a hate message. Police say whoever is responsible is still on the loose.

This string of crime is putting people on Henry Ave. on high alert. Police say this sort of stuff is rare for that neighborhood, but the fact two crimes have happened in as many days is very concerning.

Neighbors said it's normally a quiet street, but that in the past year or so things have started to get a little out of control as different people have moved in. The truck is still in the front yard with the glass shot out, and the graffiti on the house is still there.

Neighbors could hear the gunshots last night. The people living nearby say this very unusual for their calm area. "I sit out here at night because my wife doesn't let me smoke in the house, so I'll sit out here at night and smoke. I'm not afraid," said William Strandberg, a neighbor. "This has just been such a very casual neighborhood, very free, and it's kind of scary to see the police around so often," said Marie Fowler, a neighbor.

A few of the neighbors say they hope an increased police presence will help stop all of this before it escalates anymore.
