ROCKINGHAM COUNTY, Va. -- Many people in the Valley planned big life events for Wednesday's date because 12-12-12 is easy to remember and it's supposed to be lucky.
Holly Stepnicka, already a mom to a very special big brother, welcomed another baby on Wednesday.
"Thought today would be a special day, to have a very special boy," said Stepnicka.
Her baby boy was due on Dec. 9, but he didn't arrive on time. Stepnicka was induced Tuesday night around 10 p.m.
"It would've been really cool to have him 12 minutes after 12, but that didn't work out."
Instead, he was born Wednesday morning at approximately 9:30 and his parents couldn't be happier.
Other big life changes happened at the Rockingham County court house. Ryan and Bethany became Mr. and Mrs. Popelish. She had a bet with a friend to wed on a special day.
"This year she said, well time's running out, this is the last year you can do it. It's now or never," said Bethany Popelish.
The two wed during the noon hour in front of friends and family. For Bethany Popelish, she wouldn't want it any other way.
"Ive been a maid of honor four times and a best man once. It's a modern world that we live in. And I just knew I didn't want to do all that. This is exactly what I wanted.”
Ryan Popelish will have a tough time forgetting the day he kissed Bethany Popelish for the first time as his wife.
"You have to pick something special. Plus it makes the anniversary really easy to remember," said Ryan Popelish.
It was a day both these families will never forget.
"Since he didn't come on the 9th, we thought, a few more days, and having him on 12-12-12. Nobody will forget his birthday," said Stepnicka.
A date like Wednesday's will not happen again for another 89 years.
