A Waynesboro man has been charged a year after a pickup truck he was driving allegedly struck and killed a woman who was mowing her lawn.
The News Leader reports 21-year-old Stephen J. Vance was indicted Monday by an Augusta County grand jury on an involuntary manslaughter charge.
Eighty-one-year-old Lucille Wheeler of Fishersville died Oct. 13, 2010.
Vance told State Police a blown tire caused his pickup truck to lose control and swerve into Wheeler's yard. But during the investigation, a substance was found on the front seat of the vehicle.
Forensics lab tests revealed the substance was a synthetic drug.
