For the past 20 years one man has set aside the last Sunday in June to share his hobby with people in the Valley.

It's the Great Virginia Bug Around. But, you wouldn't see any creepy crawlers.

These bugs are of the Volkswagen variety.

Ken Nethken has owned a garage that specializes in the German vehicle brand for almost 50 years.

Realizing that others shared his love of the unique cars and vans, he decided to start a special day to honor the brand.

Enthusiasts got to check out examples from the past and present.

Nethken says it's the brand's versatility that has kept him interested.

"I wanted to build cars. And this is something you could take the basic Volkswagen and you could make something entirely different."

The first Volkswagen was produced by the Nazi's in the 1930's as a cheap and economical vehicle for everyone to own.

The name reflects that; it means "people's car."
