HARRISONBURG, Va -- Volunteers from across the Valley came to wrap gifts donated to the be a Santa for a Senior program. Almost all of the ornaments were adopted to help seniors get what they need for Christmas.
One senior had lotion, a Pillow Pet, non-slip socks and some candy on her Christmas list this year and thanks to generous donors, that is exactly what she will receive.
Cheryl McAlister normally works in admissions at a local nursing home, but on Wednesday, she took on the role of one of Santa's elves, wrapping presents.
"I think it's going to be wonderful for the elderly that do not have anyone,” said McAlister, “We do run across a lot of elderly that don't have any family. So, I think this is going to be great. It's going to make a lot of people happy for Christmas."
Volunteers said there are still more ornaments to adopt. You can find them on the trees at Walmart to make sure every senior has the Christmas they deserve.
